I really believe that game changed RTS games and the direction of WC3 there are way to many similarities with battle Realm and a year is plenty of time to take and polish someone else's idea it's easier than coming up with something from scratch.Īnd your wrong about Warcraft 2 it was 2d pixel based RTS, Battle realms uses polygons giving it a distinct style. I'm not saying WC3 isn't a great game it's pretty cool, but I like to give proper credit to the people who did Battle realms.

That's true but blizzard changed development on WC3 half way thru and evry game get's announced preview with screenshots somewhere. in many ways, both seem to be natural evolutions of the graphics of the RTS genre. this is not to say that WC3 was 100% not 'influenced' in some ways by battle realms (we'll never know). You should find screen shots of WC2 (and even Starcraft) - battle realms seems to have copied and extended/updated the graphics, much like blizzard did with their sequel. WC3 has been in the works for a long time. a tad difficult for blizzard to simply 'copy and polish' it and release WC3 so soon. They do look similar (having looked at several screen shots of battle realms).
